Over one week, Lake Pleasant Regional Park invites recreationists to a handful hiking and park volunteer activities. And Saturday the 4th has a main morning closure at the lake to know about before you go about.
Remaining September Activities
National Public Lands Day Hike: Sept. 27, 2025 – 09:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Take a hike and learn about the history and importance of public lands as well as some of the cool volunteer opportunities at the Lake and other Maricopa County parks with Ranger Shaun. The guided hike is planned for four miles out and back on the Wild Burro Trail.
Meet at the Wild Burro Day Use Area. The park welcomes the first 10 guests who register by emailing Ranger Shaun at shaun.barnett@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
Lake Pleasant Monday Clean-Up Crew: Sept. 29 – 6:00am – 8:00am
Each Monday morning, the park asks for help from up to 100 park users and lovers who can spend a couple of hours helping to maintain it. From its many visitors, especially over the weekends, liter can accumulate fast and damage the park and its precious wildlife. Closures for Race Day Oct. 4
The Castle Creek entry, North entrance, at Lake Pleasant Regional Park will be temporarily closed on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
That morning, the park will host 4 Peaks Racing’s annual Castle Creek Triathlon. Visitors may enter the park as usual using the main entrance on Lake Pleasant Access Road. The park asks that recreationists exercise extreme caution on Castle Hot Springs Road as cyclers and runners will be on the roadways throughout the morning.

The race event will occupy Castle Creek Boat Ramp and the adjacent parking lot. Castle Creek entry and its corresponding points if interest are set to reopen once the last racer has cleared the roadway; the race has a cutoff time of 11:00am.
Upcoming October Activities
Evening Hike: October 03, 2025 6:00 PM – 09:00 PM
Recreationists are invited to a guided night hike with Ranger Derik along the Beardsley Trail. This trail is a four-mile guided out-and-back. Registration is required and the first 20 to do claim a spot on this hike will be admitted. Email Ranger Derick at derik.rodgers@maricopa.gov to register and visit the park’s page to learn more.
Lake Pleasant Clean-Up (Saturday): October 4, 2025 – 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Visit the park’s website to learn more about this Saturday park and lake clean-up session. Registration begins at 7:00am and volunteers are invited to enjoy a free day in the park for their efforts. Register for this event on the park’s event page.
Desert 101 Hike: October 4, 2025 – 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Explore the less-frequented north end of Lake Pleasant with Ranger Derik and enjoy with sweeping views of cacti and towering mountains. This hike covers five miles and gains 415 ft of elevation along the Bald Eagle Trail and Agua Fria River. Along the way, hikers will see breathtaking geological features like the White Bluffs, Indian Mesa, and Wild Burro Mesa. Ranger Derik will cover topics on history, water, plants and animals.
