As of September 3, 2025, these are the current alerts to be aware of before visiting the following National Park Service sites in Arizona.
Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
Through September 22, 2025, the Visitor Center will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Visitors can still enjoy passport stamps, brochures, and Jr Ranger books which will be available on the Visitor Center’s patio.
The park remains open seven days a week from 9am to 4pm.
Chiricahua National Monument
The restrooms at Bonita Canyon campground will be closed for construction through September 19, 2025. During this time, portable toilets and a handwashing station will be available.
Restrooms with running water remain available at the Visitor Center and at Faraway Ranch.
Coronado National Monument
Coronado and surrounding areas near Tucson are on flood watch, which as of September 3, is expected to stand through 5pm on September 6, 2025.
NWS Tucson AZ names these places for the current flood watch:
“A portion of Southeast Arizona, including the following areas, Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Chiricahua Mountains, Dragoon and Mule and Huachuca and Santa Rita Mountains, Eastern Cochise County below 5000 feet, Galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains, Southeast Pinal County, Tucson Metro Area, Upper Gila River Valley, Upper San Pedro River Valley, Upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley and White Mountains of Graham and Greenlee Counties.”
Fort Bowie National Historic Site
The Fort Bowie Visitor Center will be closed on Sunday, September 7 and Monday, September 8. The park and trails remain open as usual from sunrise to sunset.
Grand Canyon National Park
Due to the Dragon Bravo Wildfire, the North Rim remains closed through the 2025 season.
At the park’s South rim, find here today’s calendar of programs and events.
The South Rim Visitor Center is open daily from 8am to 4pm.
Montezuma Castle National Monument
Especially to be aware of in monsoon season, all park trails are closed for 30 minutes following any lightning strikes within five miles of the park. This includes Montezuma Well and the trail to see Montezuma Castle. Recreationists are advised to check the forecast ahead of park visits.
Petrified Forest National Park
The Painted Desert Visitor Center on the north side of park was closed in July for a major construction project. During the closure, Visitor Center operations will be handled at the Painted Desert Inn, two miles past the entrance station.
Saguaro National Park
Visitor Centers at Saguaro will be closed September 3-4, 2025. The Rincon Mountain Visitor Center (east) will be closed on September 3rd, and the Red Hills Visitor Center (west) will be closed on September 4th. The park remains open to recreation on these days.
Tuzigoot National Monument
Like, Montezuma Castle, all Tuzigoot trails will be closed for 30 minutes following any lightning strikes five miles or less from the park. This should include the Pueblo Trail and Tavasci Marsh Trail.
Wupatki National Monument
There is a partial closure at Wupatki Pueblo. While the trail remains fully open, three rooms here are closed due to an unstable wall.
Also, the site would like to make visitors aware that the main phone line for the Visitor Center may experience occasional outages. The public is asked to email FLAG_Information@nps.gov if contacting the park by phone doesn’t seem to work.
