The North Rim will remain closed for the rest of the 2025 season due to the ongoing damage caused by the Dragon Bravo Wildfire.
The blaze has destroyed roughly 70 structures, including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge, the North Rim Visitor Center, and numerous guest cabins. All developed areas on the North Rim are closed to public access, including lodging, visitor services, and other facilities.

Park officials are now focused on emergency stabilization efforts to protect what remains of the area’s infrastructure and natural resources. Recovery and rebuilding plans are underway, but the process — including reconstruction of the Grand Canyon Lodge — is expected to take considerable time.
As of August 10, 2025:
- Dragon Bravo is 37% contained
- 143,489 acres
- 1,326 emergency personnel
- 10 miles southeast of Jacob Lake, AZ

Current Trail and Point of Interest Closures
Because of heavy smoke from the Dragon Bravo Fire and limited emergency response access in the smoke-filled inner canyon, the following areas are closed to all visitors:
- North Kaibab Trail and South Kaibab Trail
- Bright Angel Trail below Havasupai Garden. River exchanges are allowed to pass through this area at their discretion.
- Phantom Ranch and Bright Angel Campground. Boat Beach is open for river runners to stop and refill water, however, they must continue to Pipe Creek beach for exchanges.
- River Trail between Pipe Creek and the South Kaibab
- Tonto East between Havasupai Garden and Tip Off
- All backcountry routes and canyoneering routes stemming from the North or South Kaibab, or the Bright Angel Trail.
Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim remains open and is welcoming visitors, but there is currently no access to North Rim facilities.
