Saguaro Lake’s Butcher Jones is closed on May 17, 2024

Valley beachgoers, Tonto National Forest has advised that Butcher Jones Recreation Site will be closed on Friday, May 17 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The reason for the one-day closure of the picnic area, trail, beach and parking lot remains vague, but improvements are being made.

Tonto NF announced that the reason is “to protect the health and safety of the public, staff, contractors, and volunteers during construction and improvements being made within the Butcher Jones Recreation Site.”

Alternative sites that remain open are:

• Phon D Sutton Recreation Area
• Pebble Beach Recreation Area
• Sheep’s Crossing Recreation Area
