Oak Creek Canyon’s Cave Springs Campground, situated 11 miles north of Sedona, is closed through July 2024 as construction personnel undertake a bank stabilization project.

The focus of the work will be on the main access road to Cave Springs Campground (Forest Road 89D), aiming to prevent further erosion and undercutting of the road.

Heavy construction equipment will be stationed at the parking area for the Harding Springs Trailhead, located on the west side of state Route 89A at the entrance of Cave Springs Campground.

Coconino National Forest’s Red Rock Ranger District said in a news release:

The Cave Springs Campground area is under a closure order until July 31, and the public is prohibited from entering the closure area. For more information about this project, please visit the Cave Springs Streambank Stabilization project page online for in-depth documents and details.
