Arizona news station Arizona’s Family reports that a snowstorm on Sunday morning in northern Arizona has led to the closure of multiple highways in affected areas.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is urging drivers to anticipate extended travel times and to assemble an emergency kit before hitting the roads.

As of Sunday night, Interstate 40 westbound between Winslow and the California state line is partially open, with a right-lane closure at milepost 159. However, several highways remain closed due to crashes or slide-offs caused by winter weather, including:

  • State Route 89A in Sedona (mileposts 375 to 398)
  • State Route 87 southbound in Winslow (milepost 338)
  • State Route 64 near the Grand Canyon National Park (milepost 243)

Take caution when traveling to recreation areas in winter conditions both on the road and on the trail.
