Forest Road 105 leading to Woods Canyon Lake within the Black Mesa Ranger District will experience closures during two separate periods: from November 6 to November 9, and then again from November 13 to November 16. Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests announced this in a news release on November 2.
These closures are necessary to facilitate the pavement pulverization process in preparation for the application of new pavement in the upcoming spring. This is part of an ongoing project that commenced in 2016 and is currently in its final phase. We kindly request that you review the map detailing the work area.
The Black Mesa Ranger District seeks the understanding and cooperation of the public as they strive to enhance parking facilities and access to Woods Canyon Lake.
During the road closure, visitors can reach Woods Canyon Lake on foot by utilizing the Meadow Trail. This trail offers a one-mile journey on a paved path starting from the Woods Canyon Vista and Trailhead, which is located on Forest Road 300.
As an alternative option, we recommend that individuals desiring a lake visit consider heading to Willow Springs Lake, conveniently situated just off Highway 260 at milepost 283. For further information or inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact the Black Mesa Ranger District at (928) 535-7300.
