While trekking up a mountainside in Arizona, a group of hikers came upon the body of a missing woman on Friday, as confirmed by authorities and reported by Fox News.
Approaching a mountain peak near Craggy Wash, located to the north of Lake Havasu City, the hikers discovered the unresponsive individual. This discovery was reported to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team.

Around 5 p.m., the group contacted the sheriff’s office for assistance, citing the challenging terrain that prevented them from approaching the individual to assess her condition, according to officials.

Rescue teams were dispatched and determined that the individual had passed away.
Due to the complexity of the location, the recovery operation was postponed until the following morning.
“The landscape was characterized by steep and rugged terrain,” noted the sheriff’s office. “After considering various options for extracting the body with our technical rope rescue team, the DPS Western Air Rescue helicopter from Kingman became available and performed a long-line extraction.”
Found rerson identified with the help of family
The deceased was later identified as Melinda Oakeson, a 46-year-old woman who had been reported missing recently, according to information from the sheriff’s office.
A family member reported Oakeson missing on October 16 after a period of no contact. Oakeson’s driver’s license displayed a Utah address, but her mailing address was listed as Snowflake, Arizona.
The circumstances surrounding Oakeson’s death and her presence on the mountainside location remain undisclosed by the sheriff’s office.
